Physician’s Eyewear was established in 2003 to offer our valued patients a full range of services to accommodate any lifestyle and budget.

Education is a very important part of the eyewear and lens selection process. Our licensed optician, Norman Kocmick (pronounced Cuts-Mick), is very knowledgeable in all aspects of frame and lens choices, including the latest in breakthrough technology. This is extremely beneficial when you are choosing eyewear to meet your specific visual needs.

Norman Kocmick

Our Optician — Norman Kocmick

Norman Kocmick is a Nebraska licensed optician, practicing in the optical field for the past 30+ years. He is a proud member of the Nebraska Society of Opticians and has served as a past president of this society.

Norman is also a certified contact lens fitter (NCLE) and has extensive experience with fitting and caring for contact lens patients.

Mr. Kocmick decided to work at Proffitt Eye Center because he enjoys the type of patients associated with this medical practice. He enjoys educating patients and assisting them with their choices and eyewear needs. There is a wealth of new technology available to help with patient’s needs. He will spend the time necessary to explain their benefits. This will help in making more informed decisions about what is right for you, the patient.

Norman truly enjoys his work and would love for you to stop into the Optical Shop to see all that he has to offer.

General Services

As part of the Optical Shop’s service capabilities we offer:

  • Fulfillment of any eyeglass prescription by an experienced, licensed optician.
  • Personalized attention for selection of eyewear and lenses.
  • Contact lens fittings by a Certified Contact Lens Specialist.
  • Complementary cleanings and eyeglass adjustments at anytime.

Our optical shop maintains and offers a large variety of styles of frames to fit any budget needs, from titanium frames with durability and virtual weightlessness, to color, fashionable and designer eyewear. A large selection of sun wear, both prescription and non-prescription, is available. We take a great deal of pride in our selection, keeping up with all of the latest technology, styles and trends to give our patients the best experience and products available.

Physician’s Eyewear insists on only superior lenses for our patients, and is pleased to offer the latest lenses, such as progressive no-line bifocals such as Varilux and Shamir.

  • Superior antireflective coatings for night driving and computer use.
  • Trivex plastic lenses, which are the strongest, most impact-resistant lenses available.
  • Polarized sunglass lenses that eliminates reflected glare, which offers the best option in glare protection.
  • High index lenses that are thinner, especially for high myopia and higher power lens prescriptions.
  • Transition lenses, which go from light to dark and dark to light, with newer updated versions of this technology such as the extractive version of this particular lens.

For no-line progressive lenses, we offer a digital measurement system called Visioffice, which allows our opticians to custom-design the placement of the no-line bifocal within 0.1 mm. This method is up to 5 times more precise than traditional measuring methods for a no-line progressive bifocal. The Fit Sensor attaches to your frames to provide clear guide points for your measurements. With this technology, we are able to precisely measure the location of your pupils and spacing of your eyes relative to your chosen frames. By using this method, the success of a no-line bifocal is more successful in allowing for improved accuracy and improved vision.
